Giovanni Busino, emeritus member of the Scientific Committee of the Luigi Einaudi Foundation in Turin, of which he had been a member since 1970, passed away on 4 January.

Giovanni Busino, emeritus member of the Scientific Committee of the Luigi Einaudi Foundation in Turin, of which he had been a member since 1970, passed away on 4 January. 

Professor Busino was the foremost expert on Vilfredo Pareto and had edited the 32-volume edition of his 'Oeuvres complètes', 1963-1989.

Former professor of general sociology, history of sociological analysis and sociological epistemology, director of the Institute of Anthropology and Sociology at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lausanne, he has been an honorary professor at the same university since 2002.

For many years he was editor of the “Revue européenne des sciences sociales” and of the “Travaux de sciences sociales” collection; co-editor of the journals “Economie appliquée” and “Economies et Sociétés” and of the “Cahiers internationaux de sociologie”. 

Finally, he has been a member of several international scientific societies.
